The purpose of the book is to inspire the younger generation to become stewards of the environment, and preserve & protect wildlife through education about the La Jolla harbor seals.
I have been a Docent Coordinator and Trainer for the Sierra Club Seal Society and La Jolla Friends of the Seals since 2007. I became both an educator and political activist, working with others to successfully lobby San Diego City Council and the California Coastal Commission to close Casa Beach/Children’s Pool for the annual harbor seal pupping season. So essentially, this book represents my story tailored to the level of a 10-year old reader.
As an author my goal is to inspire and educate the younger generation to develop a reverence for life, a sense of wonder in perceiving all living things and to take initiative to preserve and protect our natural environment.
As mentioned above, I have been a docent coordinator, trainer and political activist working to preserve and protect the La Jolla harbor seal colony since 2007. I have practiced and taught meditation and yoga for many years, am a certified Reiki healing master & iPEC-certified life coach, and have worked in corporate environments as an IT project manager/business analyst. I live with my Westie and Scottie terriers, who are my pups of the land. 🙂
The objective of the book is to create a fun story with bright & happy illustrations and interesting educational fun facts & glossary terms to fulfill the purpose of inspiring children to care about the natural world.
